My name is Randy, I'm 30 and I've been working on computers since I was
8. I built my first desktop when I was 16 from a mix of old and new
parts. I've always had a true passion for the computer industry as a
whole, but was only doing repairs for family and people I knew. After
the economy crashed I decided it was time for a career change. I've seen
how much big companies charge to fix or even diagnose a home computer
and it was definitely a shock. Did you know that these companies will
charge $100-180 to come to your house and only "diagnose" your system?
By the time they've fixed the problem you're looking at $200-$400 for
the whole repair on your older system. That system most of the time is
only worth $80-120. A new computer top of the line can be built for
under $500. But what gets me the most, is people are willing to pay this
amount. So I started repairing systems professionally in January of
2010, and have had great success at it. I've given a lot of people
discounts on my very fair prices, because they had another technician or
company come and supposedly "fix" there computer but end up making it
worse. I encourage everyone looking to have their computer worked on,
please ask for references. If they can't give you a reference, then
obviously there's a reason. As well, there is no reason to ever pay more
than $100 to have a computer fixed. Why would you? When you can buy a
new one for under $300.
Also, for those of you that have broken, crashed, or accidentally
spilled liquid on your computer, your files are safe and easily
recoverable.
