The Rock’n‘Bowl had become a recognized part of the New Orleans music scene by 1993.

In 1941 Mid City Lanes opened on the upstairs floor of a small commercial mall building giving way to the infamous RocknBowl. John Blancher purchased it in 1988 and a year later turned it into a live music venue while keeping the bowling alley active. The first live music at the venue was performed on November 2, 1989 by Johnny J and the Hitmen. Following the change, the place became notoriously known as the RocknBowl. In the mid 1990's, RocknBowl expanded to the ground floor of the same building creating another bar and stage for live shows underneath the bowling alley, called "Bowl Me Under".

The bowling alley and main music stage survived the wrath of Katrina in 2005 and RocknBowl was one of the first businesses to reopen after the storm. In 2009, RocknBowl moved to a new location at 3016 South Carrollton at Earhart Blvd next to Ye Olde College Inn. Both natives of New Orleans and tourists alike continue to come eat, drink, rock and bowl to Louisiana's finest musical sensations!
