concrete, moisture control is essential, but can be managed with a film
barrier applied directly over the concrete. Engineered wood subfloors

manufacturers recommend proprietary underlayments that are specially
suited to installation of their hardwood floors. Once the subfloor is in
place, sanded, smoothed, or filled to provide a level, even surface,
installation of the boards can begin.

traditional hardwood floors, it's simple to install. Traditional
hardwood floor installation requires dealing with slightly warped
lumber, nailing, gluing, sanding, and floor finishing. Laminate floors

two grades of laminate underlayment ? standard and premium underlayment.

The purpose of laminate flooring underlayment is two-fold. First it
provides a bit of ?give? between the foot or furniture and the subfloor.

since it's underneath the slick surface of the laminate planks, but it
does work because it's between the subfloor and the planks.

Engineered hardwood flooring is a product made up of a core of
hardwood, plywood or HDF and a top layer of hardwood veneer that is
glued on the top surface of the core and is available in almost any
hardwood species. The product thus has the natural characteristics of
the selected wood species as opposed to a photographic layer. The
?engineered? product has been designed to provide greater stability,
particularly where moisture or heat pose problems for solid hardwood
floors.
In addition to the top hardwood veneer, engineered wood flooring
typically has three or more core layers. Of course, there is greater
stability with more layers. The core layers may be plywood, high density
fiberboard, or hardwood. For example, Vanier engineered flooring has
five to seven hardwood core layers
