For those of you who want to sell or buy the piano on Urbanretails -- I can help you in a several ways:
For sellers:
- Appraisal of your piano, so you can set a fair price in your ad and sell the piano faster;
- Tuning: if the piano is noticeably out of tune, it will scare away
most potential buyers. For a relatively small fee ($120 for most
pianos), you will have a nice-sounding instrument that will appeal to
your buyers, and that will justify a higher asking price.
- Fixing minor action problems, like sticking keys, non-working pedals,
etc. Again, such problems may turn off an otherwise willing buyer --
which would be a shame, as most such problems have a very easy fix.
Usually, I won't charge you for doctoring them: it is a bonus included
in the tuning;
- Cosmetic upgrade: your piano will look several hundreds dollars better after a short and cheap ($25-40) cosmetic work;
- All in all, after my work on your piano, you will be able to sell it
for a much better price -- usually recouping my service fee several
times over.
For buyers:
- Giving you advice on which pianos on Craigslist are worth looking
into, and which you should definitely avoid (hint: about 70-80% of
them). Many issues are obvious just from the photos and description --
and I will be happy to consult you by phone FREE OF CHARGE!
- Evaluating your chosen piano: this is a crucial, but often neglected,
step in purchasing a used piano. Pianos, especially older ones,
frequently have hidden problems that are not obvious to an untrained
eye. My $60 charge for such evaluation can save you hundreds of dollars
in future repair cost, or -- even more importantly -- from buying an
entirely unfixable instrument;
- Helping you find a good, "healthy" place for the piano in your house;
- Tuning your newly-purchased piano (a few weeks after you bring it home, after the piano has acclimatized);
- Installing a climate control system, to stabilize tunings and prolong the piano's life;
- Regulation and other work, as needed
- If you cannot find a piano that you like on Craigslist, I actually may
have one for you -- I sell used pianos as well. My pianos are already
pre-checked, tuned, regulated, cosmetically improved, and -- on top of
that -- not expensive!
